US Plans Ban on Consumer Use of Common Cancer
Sweeping restrictions of a widely used solvent were proposed Thursday by the EPA to lessen people's risk of neurological disorders, cancer, and other problems.
The Environmental Protection Agency's proposed rule (RIN: 2070-AK84) would ban all consumer uses of the solvent, perchloroethylene (PCE), and allow commercial and industrial uses only when strict measures the agency specifies to protect workers are used.
The proposed rule would affect chemical restrictions beyond perchloroethylene that the agency expects to work on.
