Genesee Intermediate School District retains 4 board members in biennial election

GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Four members of the Genesee Intermediate School District Board of Education will remain in their seats after the biennial election on June 5.
Current Board of Education members DesRae Joubran, Salvatore Ausiello, Janis Bugbee and Richard Hill were each re-elected by the Genesee County school districts at the meeting.
Nineteen of Genesee County's 22 districts were in attendance to cast votes for GISD Board of Education seats, according to a news release from the district.
Joubran was elected to a two-year partial term, Ausiello was elected to a four-year partial term and Bugbee and Hill were elected to six-year terms.
Ausiello was appointed to the board in April 2023. He's served on the Flushing Community Schools board since 1994.
Joubran was also appointed to the board in 2022. Bugbee and Hill have served on the GISD board of education since 2020 and 2017, respectively.
The Genesee Intermediate School District Board of Education serves as a liaison between public school districts and academies in the Genesee Intermediate School District and the State Department of Education and to provide educational programs and services, according to its bylaws.
